Grant From Nato Research Project: ‘Governance of Cyber-Security and Resilience For Arctic’

Defense, transportation, and business opportunities in the Arctic are accompanied by the danger of cyber-threats, especially to critical infrastructure. This research project is part of the Science for Peace and Security Programme, NATO.

Description and Justification:
Defense, transportation, and business opportunities in the Arctic are accompanied by the danger of cyber-threats, especially to critical infrastructures which in the Arctic become “extra critical” because of the harsh environmental climatic conditions and remoteness.

Critical infrastructures in the Arctic is also crucial for military and security since its hosts many data hubs, significant energy resources and depended on digitalization, internet and computers’ commands.

Interferences with climatic conditions, ice, and disasters, needs new methodologies of risk and resilience assessment but also effective legal frameworks able to protect critical infrastructures and sustain both industrial and military activities.
